Memory Sticks - textile sculpture: Hevingham Primary

Memory sticks at Hevingham Primary
Working with the whole school, one class at a time and with parents, this activity used the story of Three Billy Goats Gruff to devise a visual memory-jogger.
Each child had a stick, is very familiar with the story, and uses scraps of coloured fabric, wool and plastic to remind them of significant stages in the story.
Each childs wrapped 'memory stick' was then added to a 'rope ladder', to create a bright collaborative sculpture. The rope ladder then also became a prop and device to describe the bridge in the story.
It was good to use a completely non-technical device to help tell a story, and yet it was called a memory stick, which can also mean an advanced PC device.
