This sign is a carved oak item, in the tradition of decorative hand-carved Norfolk signs. Installed originally for the Silver Jubilee, Jessica was commissioned to carry out a full repair, refurbishment and re-paint job on the sign. The sign had to be dismantled from the oak post so she could work on it in the workshop.
Many patches of rot, and a lots of flaky paint, all had to be dealt with.
Excellent oil-based exterior paints (Osmo) were used to ensure light-fastness and longevity.
The oak post on which it stands was also wire-brushed and treated with several applications of Danish Oil.
