Aylsham Town Sign, Norfolk

This sign is a carved oak item, in the tradition of decorative hand-carved Norfolk signs. Installed originally for the Silver Jubilee, Jessica was commissioned to carry out a full repair, refurbishment and re-paint job on the sign. The sign had to be dismantled from the oak post so she could work on it in the workshop.
Many patches of rot, and a lots of flaky paint, all had to be dealt with. The final result is very strong and fresh, and will last for another 20 years at least before further attention may be required.
Excellent oil-based exterior paints by Osmo were used.
The oak post on which it stands was also wire-brushed and treated with several applications of Danish Oil.
